Adam Miller 139th Airlift Wing ROSECRANS AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Mo. -- Amy Mathias was recently named the new 139th Airman and Family Readiness program manager. She oversees the wing’s Resiliency Center which is made up of various support element aimed at providing resources for Airmen and their families. As the leader of the Resiliency Center, Mathias helps Airmen and their families with a multitude of issues including:[BRJCUA1A1] helping members transition out of the military or retire, provide family support while deployed, engaging with base events and personal, family and social issues that members or families may have. Prior to joining the unit, she worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections as a corrections officer and substance abuse counselor for 10 years before going to the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a drug treatment specialist for another eight years. The military way of life is in her blood as she served 10 years in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee while stationed in Japan, Alaska, Texas, and Hawaii. She understands what it takes to wear the uniform, as well as the stress that comes with it to the service member and their family. Mathias says she wants to get back to her military roots and work in this positive environment. “The people here truly care about each other, it’s an amazing family atmosphere,” she said.
